Celtic manager Neil Lennon and midfielder Victor Wanyama have been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Manager and Young Player of the Month for December, respectively.
An impressive month for the club saw Celtic win all five of their Clydesdale Bank Premier League games and move two points clear at the top of the league. Neil Lennon’s side began the month with a tough 1-0 away win over Dundee United, followed up with a 1-0 win at home to in-form Hearts. Celtic then overcame St Johnstone in a 2-0 win before recording a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock on Christmas Eve. Celtic completed the month with a terrific 1-0 win over title challengers Rangers, which allowed Lennon’s side to overtake their rivals and start the New Year at the summit of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League table.
Throughout the month 20 year old Victor Wanyama was a key player for Celtic. His workrate and ability to break up play and build attacks was pivotal in Celtic’s success over the month. Wanyama also scored a brilliant goal in his side’s 1-0 win over Hearts, however it was his energetic and spirited displays that led the voting panel to pick him out as Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month.
