Clydesdale Bank Premier League Manager of the Month for December
Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Manager of the Month for December.
An impressive month for his club saw Celtic win all five of their Clydesdale Bank Premier League games and move two points clear at the top of the league. Neil Lennon’s side began the month with a tough 1-0 away win over Dundee United, followed up with a 1-0 win at home to in-form Hearts. Celtic then overcame St Johnstone in a 2-0 win before recording a 2-1 victory over Kilmarnock on Christmas Eve. Celtic completed the month with a terrific 1-0 win over title challengers Rangers, which allowed Lennon’s side to overtake their rivals and start the New Year at the summit of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League table.
Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month for December
St Mirren midfielder Paul McGowan has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month for December.
McGowan was a key performer for St Mirren throughout the month as they looked to continue their challenge for a top six finish in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League. McGowan helped his side pick up a point in tough away trips to both Aberdeen and Motherwell before recording a 2-1 win over Rangers, then finished off the month with a 2-2 draw against in form Dundee United. McGowan was important for his side throughout December however he particularly shone in St Mirren’s 2-1 win over Rangers. McGowan was a constant threat to the Rangers defence and created a host of chances for his side before scoring the winner as his side recovered from a goal down to the current Clydesdale Bank Premier League champions. McGowan was also praised for his consistency and attacking flair however it was his constant availability to receive the ball and pick a pass that impressed the judging panel and led them to vote McGowan as their Clydesdale Bank Premier League Player of the Month.
Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month for December
Celtic midfielder Victor Wanyama has been named Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month for November.
Throughout December the 20 year old was a key player for Celtic. His workrate and ability to break up play and build attacks was pivotal in Celtic’s success over the month. Wanyama also scored a brilliant goal in his side’s 1-0 win over Hearts, however it was his energetic and spirited displays that led the voting panel to pick him out as Clydesdale Bank Premier League Young Player of the Month.
